Poverty Relief Fund
Set up during the COVID-19 pandemic, the grocery vouchers supplied to vulnerable families provide much needed relief. This assistance has been extended to medical and housing support. The wet, damp, and cold Cape Town winters are particularly harsh for those living in shacks. ‘Winter-proofing’ these shacks has made all the difference in getting through these difficult months.
We have a great team of people committed to doing all they can to live out our motto ‘helping others help themselves’. It is our hope that we will be able to continue investing in the community of Delft, and to ensure that the important investments Bettaway Community Services is already making will help to break the cycle of poverty for the next generation, keep children healthy and in school, and help households transition from receiving help to more sustainable income generating opportunities.
